Programs for Training in the Local Government
- West Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina, has a local government training program that teaches the skills needed to work for the North Carolina government at a local level (township, city and county). The objectives of this training program are to obtain the technical skills needed for these jobs, learn past and present laws and to acquire the knowledge needed to represent local residents.
- The Institute for Local Government in California offers training programs in the classroom and online for individuals who are already employed in local government. These courses are specifically designed to teach government employees about government ethics and ethical practices.
- In Pennsylvania, county, city, municipality, state and township government training is available through the PA Local Government Training Partnership, which is a subsidiary of the Governor's Center for Local Government Services. Classroom and online courses are available, and they include training in economics, environment, finance, administration, planning, public safety works, recreation and taxes.
